Clare Alarms has been securing homes in County Clare, Limerick and Galway for over 30 years, with over 3,500 systems installed to date. During this time we've always installed the highest quality equipment and endeavoured to provide the best service possible.

In the past, having your home protected with a security system may have been seen as a luxury or an unnecessary expense. However, in recent years it has become a necessity and we’ve noticed this as demand has increased.

Over the years we’ve secured all types of homes: from small cottages to the ultra-modern and everything in between, and we always work closely with our customers to design the best system to fit their needs and budget.

Some questions we are often asked when designing systems

Q. What kind of equipment do you install for an average house alarm?

Every alarm system has the same basic parts, with the only difference being the number of each part you need and this obviously depends on the size of your house. We use a few different brands of equipment - the same brands that we have been using for over 20 years. These are the best systems available and ensure we can stand over our systems for all budgets.

Every security system has the following parts:

  • Control panel: the brains of the system

  • Keypad: both wired or wireless, this is used to operate the alarm system.

  • Sirens: inside and outside your house, and can be wired or wireless

  • Motion sensors: used to detect motion and heat, and are the front line of your system. There are many types of beams including pet friendly, and many others.

  • Window sensors: these are installed on your house windows and detect vibration if your windows are hit or banged on.

  • Smoke, Heat, and Carbon Monoxide alarms: these detect smoke, heat, and carbon monoxide, and can be used to alert fire services if necessary.

Q. DO YOU PROVIDE MONITORING?

Yes, we provide a 24-hour monitoring service, and you can learn more about this here

Q. DO YOU PROVIDE Maintenance?

Yes, we offer maintenance services on all systems, and you can learn more about this here.

q. Will you be able to see the wires?

We install systems that are both wired and wireless, so the answer is no - you won’t see wires. There are some cases where it’s better to use wires, for example with the bell box - purely because the batteries in wireless bell boxes may die faster so from a maintenance point of view later it will require no battery change.

Inside your house, you won’t see any wires, and if there are times where a wired systems would work better for you - we’ll always discuss it with you first.

Q. What’s the difference between window sensors and Motion sensors?

Motion sensors - those are the little boxes with a blinking red light you will see in the corner of a room, and they activate the system if motion is detected within the room.

Window sensors on the other hand are installed directly onto your windows and detect vibration or sudden impact. These tend to be more user-friendly for the elderly or people living alone as you can fully set your system while at home.

Q. Are your systems pet-friendly?

Yes, we have a range of sensors that allow small animals freedom of the house while your system is fully set. With larger animals, we discuss this at the design phase.

Q. How often do i need to change the batteries with a wire-free system?

On average we are getting 8+ years with all our wire-free sensors -- by far the longest-lasting battery-powered sensors in the industry.

Great service and very competitive prices. Highly recommended.
